Gunshots, no injuries, reported at Villanova

A gunman marred a social tradition and put a college campus on alert yesterday morning when he fired numerous shots amid a crowd of people dispersing from a dance at Villanova University.
For years, the university has offered students alternative weekend activities to alcohol consumption under a program called Late Nite. The program, which runs from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, hosts comedians, bands and dances, and has gone off without a hitch since its inception - until yesterday.
As a Late Nite dance was letting out from the university's student-activities building, the Connelly Center, fights broke out, according to Liz Kennedy Walsh, associate vice president of university communications.
