Scott won't be in court, but expected to plead not guilty

The next act in suspended Penn State tailback Austin Scott's ongoing legal drama will be played out by fax machine and registered mail.
Neither Scott nor his attorneys, lead counsel John J. Karoly and co-counsel Joe Amendola, will be present for Scott's arraignment today on charges of rape and sexual assault, both felonies, as well as two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and a misdemeanor count of simple assault.
As part of the waiver of formal arraignment he signed, Scott, 22, is entering a plea of not guilty that does not require him to be at the Centre County Government Courthouse in Bellefonte, Pa.
Scott's attorneys have 7 days upon receipt of court documents to file a request for a bill of particulars. They have 14 days to file a motion of discovery,...
