Two Nittany Lions ordered to stand trial over fight

The legal problems of Penn State football players Chris Baker and Navorro Bowman appeared to deepen yesterday when a Centre County Judge ordered them to stand trial in connection with a fight last year.

Two days after felony charges against Baker and Bowman were refiled, and a day after President Judge David E. Grine appointed a new judge to hear the case, additional testimony was heard during a preliminary hearing at the county courthouse in Bellefonte from four witnesses, who said they observed the players kicking and stomping a man as he lay on the ground. The victim suffered a broken nose and other facial injuries in the Oct. 7 incident.
