Nothing doing for Sixers at NBA trade deadline

ORLANDO - Deal or no deal? That seems to be a popular fad these days. For the 76ers, it was no deal as the NBA in-season trade deadline passed silently at 3 p.m. yesterday.

As it turned out, president/general manager Eddie Stefanski wasn't the least bit disappointed.

All of the speculation about the possible trading of point guard Andre Miller was just that. Miller, having one of his best seasons, has been the glue to the Sixers' plan of developing young players Thaddeus Young, Jason Smith, Lou Williams and Rodney Carney.

"Miller was the primary target [of other teams], and we didn't want to give him up," Stefanski said. "He has helped the young guys, he is helping the young guys and he will continue to help the young guys."
