Worst-case scenario: NFL prospects get injured at combine

INDIANAPOLIS - There are no contact drills at the NFL Scouting Combine, so scenes like the one that unfolded late yesterday morning inside the cavernous RCA Dome are rare.

Florida State wideout De'Cody Fagg, projected as midround pick in April's draft, first appeared to stumble, then sprawled to the turf along the sideline during a pass-catching drill. Fagg tried to get up and quickly fell down again, clutching his left knee. He left the field on a stretcher with what the NFL announced as a "left leg injury," but an NFL source said Fagg had torn his ACL.

Other prospects seemed to avert their gaze from the sideline, where Fagg went down trying to complete a drill in which a wideout taps both feet inbounds as he hauls in a pass. This, obviously, is the worst thing that...
