NASCAR levels penalties against Edwards, Roush team

Talk about getting off to a good start . . .

With consecutive victories, Carl Edwards was leading the Sprint Cup standings for the first time in his career.

Edwards is the Cup series "King of the West." After winning in California and Las Vegas, he should have a TV commerical wearing a cowboy hat and twirling pistols.

"Winning these races is the greatest part of [racing] for me," Edwards said after his Vegas victory. "Winning a championship would be the ultimate. The greatest part of winning these races is, we get the 10 points per race that will help us out if we make the Chase.

"I think we are close to the form that we were in 2005, where it just seemed like a Roush Fenway car would win every week."

Edwards and his team were riding high until the NASCAR justice department hammered ...
