A friend tells of rape before 3-story fall

A 23-year-old woman testified yesterday that on a Sunday morning in February, her friend was so desperate to escape the man who had just raped her that she dangled one leg from a third-floor window inside her South Street apartment and prepared to jump.
The 30-year-old friend thought she could land on a restaurant sign, then jump onto the sidewalk, the younger woman testified.
But then the alleged rapist - David Rosario - "burst into the room," she said.
At that moment, her friend "got startled," the witness said. "She basically almost fell out [the window]. She hit the sign post, then landed straight on her stomach."
Rosario, 34, of Queens, N.Y., is accused of raping the victim in her Society Hill apartment on South Street near 2nd about 10 a.m. Feb. 24. He is also accused of attempting to rape ...
