Suit: Temple allowed anti-Semitic behavior

A 23-year-old man who was punched outside of a former Jewish fraternity house at Temple University earlier this year has filed a lawsuit against the school and four now-suspended students.

The suit by Jordan Blady alleges that Temple "had been aware of and had tolerated ongoing acts of anti-Semitic behavior on its campus for a lengthy period of time" before the Feb. 15 attack outside the old Alpha Epsilon Pi house on Broad Street near Norris.

It contends that Temple "permitted" anti-Semitic behavior "by failing to take appropriate steps after numerous" anti-Semitic acts had been reported.

Ray Betzner, Temple's director of news communications, said yesterday in a statement: "The suit against Temple University is absolutely meritless and the university will defend itself vigorously."
