Raymond Dickerson Jr., counselor

Raymond H. Dickerson Jr., a youth aid counselor who never missed a day's work until illness caught up with him, died June 16 after a long battle with heart disease. He was 63 and lived in West Oak Lane.

Even through his illness, he insisted on remaining on the job. He worked for the Department of Human Services at the Youth Study Center.

"He had great enthusiasm for his work," his family said. "He was very meticulous in every facet of his life. Though stubborn and strong-willed, he had a humble and meek spirit."
