As Ryan Howard's league-leading home run mark rises, another lucky fan has the big guy to thank.
Howard's leadoff homer in the sixth inning of yesterday's Phillies-Cardinals game gave Feasterville resident Michelle Giancanterino a chance to go on a summer spending spree when she earned $1,000 in the Daily News Home Run Payoff contest.
Eight days prior, Howard made Newtown Square resident Anne Calabrese $1,000 wealthier.
Giancanterino wasn't available for comment, but we're certain she was left speechless anyway when she received the message.
There were four other winners in the Daily News Home Run Payoff contest yesterday. ...
