SOULFUL SONGBIRD  Jill Scott  

and her drummer,  Lil' John Roberts , who welcomed their son into the world two months ago, have broken off their engagement and are no longer together.

Scott, who also stars in HBO's new series, "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency," tells  Essence  magazine she's not sure if the split from Roberts was related to having the baby,  Jett Hamilton Roberts,  but she says she and her ex "love our son and we are co-parenting and working on being friends."

Roberts, who like Scott is Philly-raised, has toured with  Janet Jackson 's band.
