Mornings, we'd take coffee in our own kitchen then stroll to the town plaza for the day's shopping. We'd stop at the post office, where our favorite counter-person, Paolo, would greet us like he does all the regulars, with a cheery "Buon giorno, signori." And then we'd drive out into the country for an afternoon of exploring among monasteries, museums, and vintners. Evenings? We'd watch bocce at the same square, where we'd wave to several townspeople we knew by sight after a week and a half. Or attend a chamber music concert in the local church. Or we'd simply go home, pleasantly tired, and watch Italian TV.
