The Prettiest Yurt You Ever Did See
Not quite ready to rough it at Europe's top campgrounds (see p. 73)? Mille Etoiles, in the Languedoc area of southern France, brings camping back to the stylish era of Edwardian safaris. An hour from Avignon, in the middle of an oak forest, Europe's first upscale tent resort consists of three handcrafted yurts-round Mongolian tents-with exotic lanterns, open-air showers, and private decks where breakfast is served. A communal tent serves as library, honor bar, and dining room for the biweekly dinners ($24). It's open Easter through September, and the tents-each with room for two-start at $309 for the three-night-minimum stay. 011-33/4-66-24-21-81, www.canvaschic.com. -Gisela Williams
