This is a terrible time to go to Europe. The crowds clog the sights and push up prices-and they're already high, thanks to the unholy combination of a weak dollar and a strong euro. But it's Europe-and anyway, what's the alternative? The Olive Garden? Sitting at home watching Chocolat on DVD? If you want to go to Europe, you should go to Europe-and it's our job to tell you how.

1. Ditch the crowds

Tuscany, Prague, the Amalfi Coast, and Provence are all super places but victims of their own popularity. They're overrun and overhyped-and have the prices to prove it.
