Mount Airy, N.C., retains much of the '50s vibe that inspired native son Andy Griffith's fictional Mayberry. Cashing in on the town's fame, Mike Cockerham has restored a 1962 Ford Galaxie to look like a Mayberry RFD patrol car and hired former chamber of commerce president Jim Grimes to run 25-minute tours.
