Last Christmas, tired of buying my 10-year-old nephew gifts that bored him on contact, my parents and I gave him a trip to visit me in New York City: Over spring break, they flew out from California with him.

Culturally, we're at an interesting point. The current generation of grandparents has traveled way more than the previous generation did. Now, naturally enough, they want to share the experience with their families. As a result, I believe we'll see more and more grandparents dragging their grandkids away from Nintendo and MySpace, or whatever it is kids do, and out to explore the world.

The tricky thing is pleasing kids and seniors. (Sorry, Mom and Dad, but that's what you are.)
