BRUSSELS (AFP) — The European Commission announced the introduction of an EU pet passport from next year required for domestic animals to travel between most countries in the European Union.

The EU-wide passport, a small blue booklet embossed with the EU's 12 stars and comprising pages for vaccination stamps, will replace the variety of documents currently needed across the 15-member bloc from July 3, 2004.
