Paerson wins women's World Cup giant slalom

PARK CITY (AFP) — Sweden's Anja Paerson won the World Cup giant slalom, the second women's race of the 2003/04 calendar, ahead of Austria's Nicole Hosp and Denise Karbon of Italy.
Paerson, who was second in the giant slalom in Solden, Austria a month ago which kicked off the season, clocked 2min 27.14sec for a comfortable victory over Host (2:28.56) and Karbon (2:28.65).
The 22-year-old world giant slalom champion earned her 12th World Cup victory and fourth in the discipline, plus took top spot in both the overall standings and giant slalom standings after two events.
Spain's Maria-Jose Riendas-Contreras had the best time of the second run however to move up from 24th spot to seventh.
