LONDON (AFP) — The son of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was to take part in a two-day seminar with a key adviser to Palestinian Authority president Yasser Arafat and other top officials, beginning in London, a pro-Israel lobbying group said.
"Omri Sharon is here together with Jibril Rajub," Arafat's national security adviser, said David Mencer, the director of Labour Friends of Israel, which works within Britain's governing Labour Party to promote the Jewish state.
The younger Sharon is a member of the Israeli parliament for his father's right-wing Likud party.
His meeting with Rajub, a potential successor to Arafat, comes just days before the unveiling of a new unofficial peace plan for the Middle East. The Geneva Initiative, as the plan is called, is to be announced in the Swiss city of that name on Monday.
