Daily Telegraph sell-off "one of several options" for Black

LONDON (AFP) — The sell-off of Britain's Daily Telegraph is "only one of several options" facing embattled media tycoon Conrad Black as his Hollinger International group undergoes a shake-up, one of his closest lieutenants said.

Hollinger announced Monday that Black would retire at the end of the week as chief executive following a probe over unauthorised payments, though he will remain its controlling shareholder and non-executive chairman.

The group also said it was asking merchant bank Lazard "to review and evaluate its strategic alternatives" including the sell-off of "one or more of its major properties".

That triggered speculation in Britain that Hollinger will sell off the jewel in its crown, the Daily Telegraph, the nation's best-selling broadsheet...
