Commonwealth agrees to keep Zimbabwe out

ABUJA (AFP) — Commonwealth leaders agreed that Zimbabwe would remain suspended from the global body for an indefinite period, subject to review by a seven-nation committee, Nigerian Foreign Minister Olu Adeniji told AFP.
"There is no timeframe set for the readmittance of Zimbabwe into the Commonwealth," he said at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in the Nigerian capital Abuja.
The decision was confirmed by Commonwealth Secretary General Don McKinnon who announced at a press conference that the suspension of the southern African state would continue.
