Mother, boyfriend accused in drowning deaths of three children

CLINTON, United States (AFP) — A mother-of-three and her boyfriend were charged with murder in the drowning deaths of her three children in what initially appeared to be a tragic accident.

Officials said the pair could face the death penalty in connection with the September 2 incident in which a car containing the youngsters reportedly rolled down a boat ramp into a lake.

Amanda Hamm, the children's mother, was the person who called in the emergency to authorities on the night from a pay phone near a boat ramp at Clinton Lake, outside of Clinton, Illinois.

Sheriff's deputies were on the scene less than five minutes after the call, and pulled the bodies of Christopher Hamm, 6, Austin Brown, 3, and Kyleigh Hamm, 23 months, from the car which was submerged in...
