Thousands march in Los Angeles to support striking supermarket workers

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Thousands of protesters marched through Los Angeles in support of 70,000 California supermarket workers who have been striking for the past two months.
A clutch of celebrities joined banner and placard-waving union leaders and workers who brought traffic in parts of the sprawling western metropolis to a standstill.
Action movie star Danny Glover and former "Little House on the Prairie" television star and Screen Actors Guild president Melissa Gilbert were present at the noisy but peaceful march.
The protest was the largest demonstration to take place since the acrimonious work stoppage at California supermarkets and the lockout of striking employees began in October 11.
