Mum says crash may help Bedingfield's songwriting

WHANGAREI, New Zealand (AFP) — New Zealand-born British pop star Daniel Bedingfield, lucky to escape brain injury or paralysis after surviving a serious road crash, may find some good comes from the accident, his mother said.
Bedingfield, 24, is in hospital here with fractures to the second and third vertebrae of his neck after rolling his four-wheel drive vehicle on Friday.
He is in traction, with four bolts in the skull to stabilise the fracture.
His mother, Molly Bedingfield, who with her husband John has maintained a bedside vigil since the crash, believed the experience could prove inspirational for her son's music in the future.
"I would expect some songs to come out of these hard times, as often happens with writers," she said.
