Ferdinand ready to drop appeal over drugs ban

LONDON (AFP) — Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is reported to be reconsidering his decision to appeal against a drugs ban to avoid missing a huge portion of next season.
The 30 million pound England defender still believes his eight-month suspension for missing a random drugs test is too harsh but the Daily Mail reported Tuesday that he fears a failed appeal could rule him out of action until next winter.
