Chaotic scenes as Jackson arrives for child sex court hearing

SANTA MARIA, United States (AFP) — Chaotic scenes greeted pop superstar Michael Jackson as he arrived at the Santa Maria court in California to face his arraignment on child sex charges.

Jackson pressed through a crush of fans and journalists waiting to catch a glimpse after arriving late for the hearing.

Dressed in a dark suit and sunglasses and wearing a white armband, he waved to crowds and shook hands with supporters waiting behind metal fences. The fans shouted and screamed messages of support to the entertainer who faces seven charges of child molestation.

Jackson was accompanied by his pop singer sister Janet in convoy of black sports utility vehicles that brought him.
