Kerry transforms Democratic presidential campaign, Bush prepares offensive

MANCHESTER, United States (AFP) — Fresh from transforming the Democratic Party presidential nomination battle, John Kerry immediately started the quest for votes in New Hampshire as President George W. Bush prepared to go on his own offensive.

The Massachusetts senator came from behind to easily win the Iowa caucuses on Monday, which launched the Democratic party's presidential nomination season. Senator John Edwards was second and the favourite Howard Dean left back in third.

The Iowa vote was seen as call for moderation after Dean's months of attacks against the US administration and other candidates.

Kerry's victory had an immediate impact in New Hampshire where a new opinion poll showed he was again closing the gap on Dean, the outspoken former governor...
