Leafs' Tucker undergoes eye surgery

TORONTO (AFP) — Darcy Tucker, victim of a high stick to his left eye in Toronto's 2-0 National Hockey League win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday, had retinal surgery.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that Tucker will be sidelined indefinitely.

Six high-sticking penalties were called in Tuesday's chippy game, but the one which caught Tucker in the eye was not detected.

Following a faceoff in the Islanders' zone late in the second period, New York's Jason Blake clipped Tucker with his stick. While being attended to on the ice, Tucker suddenly leaped to his feet and chased after Blake. After he was restrained, Tucker continued to scream at Blake.
