Ferguson sees future of United in so-good Saha
0 Comments | AFP, January, 2004
LONDON (AFP) — Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson sealed Louis Saha's arrival at the Premiership champions by handing him the coveted No. 9 shirt - then promised big things from the man he hopes will become a United great.
Ferguson admitted he had been following the 25-year-old striker ever since he impressed against United for Fulham in the FA Cup three years ago.
And after finally getting his man in a 10.5 million pounds (19.2 million dollars) deal from Fulham, the United boss said he hoped the lightning-quick Frenchman would go on to emulate other great strikers the Old Trafford club has helped produce in the past.
"We wanted to get him on a long contract, he is a young player we feel will develop into a very good one," said Ferguson.
