Mets hope newlywed pitcher is ready for comeback

NEW YORK (AFP) — Pitcher Scott Erickson, who missed last season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, signed a contract with the New York Mets, two days after marrying an American football sideline reporter.
Erickson, 36, went 5-12 with a 5.55 ERA in 29 games with Baltimore in 2002 and underwent surgery on his throwing shoulder last March. He also missed the 2001 Major League Baseball season with surgery on his right elbow.
On Tuesday, Erickson married Lisa Guerrero, who provides sideline updates for Monday Night Football telecasts. But the pitcher is anxious for the honeymoon to be over quickly.
