Zaragoza edge through to Spanish final date with Real

MADRID (AFP) — Spain's Cup final on March 17 will be a royal affair after Real Zaragoza edged out second division Alaves to book a date with Real Madrid.

Zaragoza crept into the trophy match after a goalless second leg at home to advance on the away goals rule after drawing the away leg 1-1 against an Alaves side who bear little resemblance to the one which lost 5-4 in the UEFA Cup final to Liverpool almost four seasons ago.

The Real prefix means royal and although Zaragoza cannot call on Madrid's riches they do have the pedigree of five previous Spanish Cup wins, the last coming in 2001.

Moneybags Real Madrid survived a torrid second leg Wednesday in Seville, where they lost 1-0 but advanced having won their home encounter 2-0.
