MONTREAL (AFP) — Embattled media magnate Conrad Black has been fired from his post as president of the Telegraph Group, the company that owns Britain's Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, a Hollinger International spokesman told AFP.
Black was fired Friday during a meeting of Telegraph Group directors, said Jeremy Fielding, the New York spokesman for Hollinger International, which owns the group.
The Telegraph Group is the crown jewel of Hollinger International, which also owns the Jerusalem Post and the Chicago Sun-Times.
Black was ousted as chairman of Hollinger International in January.
Hollinger shareholders are seeking in US court 200 million dollars in damages and interest from Black, who is accused of receiving unauthorized payments.
