Bayern get no sympathy in Germany

MUNICH, Germany (AFP) — Bayern Munich were given no sympathy after limping out of the Champions League in Madrid.

"Bayern you are out and it is your own fault," headlined German daily Bild. "Why did you only start playing after the Real goal?"

A 32nd minute strike from French World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane ensured nine-times winners Real eliminated the 2001 winners who were denied by goal-line clearances and fine saves from Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Having exited the Champions League at the opening group phase last season - the team did not win a single match - Bayern were desperate to make amends this term.
