England hit by Grayson fitness scare

LONDON (AFP) — England fly-half Paul Grayson is doubtful for Saturday's crucial Six Nations clash with Wales after straining a calf muscle in training.

England's medics are sufficiently concerned about the injury to have asked Bath number ten Olly Barkley to remain with the squad although he lost his place in the 22-man match squad earlier this week.

If Grayson does not make it, World Cup winner Mike Catt is expected to step in as Jonny Wilkinson remains sidelined by his shoulder injury.

Grayson took his tally of Test points through the 400 mark during England's defeat against Ireland, a setback that has made a convincing display against the Welsh essential for Clive Woodward's men.
