PONTE VEDRA, United States (AFP) — Adam Scott made the putt of his life to win the Players Championship by one stroke over Padraig Harrington.
After finding the water with his second shot at the final hole, the 23-year-old Australian rolled in a clutch 10-footer for bogey to became the youngest winner of the prestigious event.
Scott carded a two-under-par 70 to finish at 12-under 276 at the TPC at Sawgrass. Harrington, the fast-finishing Irishman, shot a 66, playing the back nine in 30 to finish at 277.
It was Scott's fifth professional victory, second on the US PGA Tour. He earned 1.44 million dollars.
Scott said the chipping lesson he received early in the week from his hero, Greg Norman, paid off. He got up-and-down from 34 yards for the victory....
