Dortmund cancel Amoroso contract

DORTMUND, Germany (AFP) — Borussia Dortmund cancelled the contract of troublesome Brazilian striker Marcio Amoroso.
Amoroso underwent a knee operation three months ago in the United States and refused to return from his native Brazil despite ultimatums from Borussia.
He was ordered to return to the Westfalen Stadium by March 18 but Amoroso ignored the deadline and the club have finally lost patience with the 29-year-old marksman.
His contract was due to expire in 2005.
Although cash-strapped Dortmund will be glad to have removed the four-million-euro annual salary of Amoroso from the wage bill the German giants will be dejected at writing off his huge transfer fee.
