DULUTH (AFP) — Two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal fired a seven-under par 65 to grab a share of the first-round lead at the BellSouth Classic alongside US tour newcomer Roger Tambellini.

Tambellini, a 29-year-old Californian who earned his PGA Tour card at qualifying school, arrived at the TPC at Sugarloaf on Thursday morning when the temperature was near freezing.

"It's not something that I would have ever dreamed of doing this morning, waking up freezing to your bones," said Tambellini, who made the cut in three of his first six starts this year, including a tie for 25th at the Buick Invitational.
