Rain in Houston forces Monday finish

HOUSTON, United States (AFP) — The longer it takes to play the Houston Open, the more it favors the longer hitters.
Rain prompted the suspension of play for the third straight day Sunday at a soaked Redstone Golf Club, forcing the first Monday finish on the PGA Tour this season.
The 71 players that made the cut were able to play only nine holes of their third rounds Sunday. The second round had not been completed until early Saturday evening.
The third round was scheduled to resume Monday morning, with the final round due to get underway 40 minutes later.
"It's pretty saturated out there," tournament director Mark Russell said. "It was a steady rain for four or five hours."
