New rules have some way to go - Richards

BARCELONA (AFP) — Hopes of a radical reformation of Formula One were dampened when BAR boss David Richards admitted there could be problems with the introduction of new regulations before 2008.
The 10 team chiefs met with FIA president Max Mosley and Formula One commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone in Monaco Tuesday and Mosley said they had agreed in principle to his radical proposal of rule changes.
He said he was confident that many of the ideas, which are expected to make the sport cheaper, safer and more entertaining, could be brought in before the current contract that governs the sport expires in 2008.
But Richards admitted that there is still a long way to go before the changes are set in stone and claimed obtaining the unanimous agreement required for technical alterations may be more difficult than Mosley suggested.
