Bush sets up commission to advance Asian American businesses
0 Comments | AFP, May, 2004
WASHINGTON (AFP) — US President George W. Bush has ordered the setting up of a commission to ensure increasing economic opportunities and business participation of Asian Americans and Pacific islanders.
Bush also called for a federal blueprint to achieve the objective under an executive order he issued on Thursday.
The aim is to provide "equal economic opportunities for full participation of Asian American and Pacific Islander businesses in our free market economy where they may be underserved and thus improving the quality of life" for them, Bush said in the statement.
The President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders will comprise up to 15 members to be appointed by Bush and established within the Department of Commerce.
