Australia recruits industry chiefs to help tackle terrorism

SYDNEY (AFP) — Prime Minister John Howard has called a summit of Australia's top corporate executives to enlist their help in the fight against terrorism and to ensure the threat is recognised at the highest level, the government said.

Attorney-General Phillip Ruddock will host the one-day forum in Canberra in late June of chief executives from key infrastructure, energy, financial and telecommunications groups.

"It is intended to involve the senior executives of the large companies and companies that are involved in critical infrastructure," a spokesman for Ruddock told AFP.

"We need to ensure that the urgency is recognised at the very highest level and ensure government is engaging property with those companies."

He likened the issue to the Y2K bug...
