RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) — Barcelona striker Ronaldinho has been ruled out of Brazil's 2006 World Cup qualifier against Argentina at Belo Horizonte with a thigh strain.

Luis Fabiano, who scored twice in the 4-1 friendly win over Hungary in April, replaces him.

Brazil doctor Jose Luis Runco said central defender Luisao would also miss the match with a similar injury.

Ronaldinho has had a brilliant season for Barcelona in Spain and his absence means coach Carlos Alberto Parreira cannot field his first-choice attacking trio of Ronaldo-Ronaldinho-Kaka.

The three have started only two matches together - although Brazil failed to score in either game.
