LEEDS, England (AFP) — New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming led from the front with an unbeaten fifty as the tourists capitalised on some sloppy England fielding here at Headingley.

At lunch, on the second day of the second Test, New Zealand were 127 for one having not lost a wicket in the morning session on Friday.

Opener Michael Papps, dropped for a third time after two reprieves Thursday, was 49 not out off 137 balls with five fours and Fleming 51 not out off 108 balls with six fours.

The duo had put an unbroken 94 for the second wicket after coming together at 33 for one on the opening day.

The tourists resumed on 41 for one, after rain and bad light meant only 19 overs play was possible Thursday.
