Australia finish top of Oceania tournament

ADELAIDE, Australia (AFP) — Australia will finish top of the World Cup qualifying Oceania Nations Cup here after a hard-fought 3-0 victory over plucky Vanuatu.
Osasuna striker John Aloisi scored a double with Blackburn Rovers' midfielder Brett Emerton scoring the other as the Socceroos clinched their fourth win from four matches in the tournament.
That was enough to ensure Australia will finish in top place and progress to the next stage of World Cup qualifying, a two-leg home and away play-off against this event's second-placed side.
But the Socceroos' playoff opponent is still to be determined, with New Zealand needing to beat Fiji on Sunday and have the Solomon Islands lose to Australia to overtake the Solomons in second place.
