Angelina Jolie cancels Olympic torch relay participation

ATHENS (AFP) — Hollywood star Angelina Jolie cancelled her participation in the Athens Olympic torch relay because she has to re-shoot movie scenes of her latest film production, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees(UNHCR) said in a press release.

Jolie, an honorary UNHCR ambassador, was scheduled to symbolically carry the Olympic flame for the world's refugees on the eve of the Games' August 13 opening ceremony.

"Ms. Jolie was requested to be available in the US from August 10 onwards in connection with the re-shooting of a series of movie scenes," the UNHCR said.
