Several detained after deadly Istanbul blast ahead of NATO summit

ISTANBUL (AFP) — Turkish police have detained several people in Istanbul after four people were killed by a bomb believed to have been carried by a member of a far-left underground organization, the Anatolia news agency reported.

Police launched random checks in shopping malls, bus and train stations after the bomb exploded on a public bus on Thursday, killing the four and injuring some 15 others, just days ahead of a NATO summit to be attended by US President George W. Bush and leaders from 45 other countries.
