American second seed Blake bounced from Newport tennis

NEWPORT, United States (AFP) — American James Blake, the No. 2 seed, was ousted in the second round of the ATP Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, falling to fellow American Alex Bogomolov 6-3, 6-1.

A finalist here in 2002, Blake injured his neck at the Italia Masters in Rome when he slipped into a net post during a practice session.

No. 3 seed Jurgen Melzer of Austria defeated France's Nicolas Mahut 6-3, 6-1, and No. 5 Cyril Saulnier of France ousted Gilles Elseneer of Belgium 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (7/3).

No. 7 Alexander Popp of Germany dispatched American Glenn Weiner 6-1, 6-3, and No. 8 Antony Dupuis of France got past Italian Davide Sanguinetti 6-3, 6-4.

Britain's Greg Rusedski, the only former champion in the field, outlasted Kenneth Carlsen of Denmark...
