Hunt under way for man-eating shark that killed Australian surfer

SYDNEY, (AFP) — A hunt has been launched for a man-eating shark that killed a surfer at a popular West Australian beach.
Helicopters and a government fisheries vessel began scouring waters in the Margaret River region south of Perth attempting to find the rogue shark that fatally attacked the 29-year-old man Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses said the shark knocked the man off his board then savaged his midriff as he fell into the water.
Police said two sharks -- one five metres (16.5 foot) long and the other three metres (10 foot) -- may have been involved in the attack, with the larger believed to be the initial aggressor.
Television footage showed the mangled remains of the man's board with the back half completely bitten away.
