Warriors deal Van Exel to Blazers for Davis, Dickau

OAKLAND, United States (AFP) — The Golden State Warriors continued retooling their roster, trading guard Nick Van Exel to the Portland Trail Blazers for forward Dale Davis and guard Dan Dickau.

The move clears the point guard position for Derek Fisher, who was signed as a free agent last week. It also anticipates the departure of free agent center Erick Dampier with the acquisition of Davis.

Dampier reportedly is mulling offers from the Atlanta Hawks, who Can sign him without the Warriors receiving any compensation, and the New York Knicks, who would have to work a sign-and-trade that would bring a pair of big men to Golden State.
