Clinton makes changes to British version of memoirs for legal protection: report

NEW YORK (AFP) — Former US president Bill Clinton reportedly made changes to the British edition of his memoirs to protect himself from that country's much tougher libel laws.

The New York Times reported the changes were made to about a dozen paragraphs of "My Life," most of which involved former special prosecutor Kenneth Starr, who led the investigation of Clinton and his relationship with a White House intern which almost cost the then US president his job.

For example, Clinton removed from the British edition references to Starr's alleged efforts to convince potential witnesses to lie about the activities of the then-president and his wife, now New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

Those references in the British version were tweaked to read Starr's efforts...
